In 2009 we enjoyed a record year of over 45 in-school author events set up in direct collaboration with individual schools. Highlights included school events with Sandi Toksivg, Andy Stanton, Tom Palmer, Tabitha Suzuma, Ian Beck, Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell. We have also been privileged to receive shop author visits from, among other notable names, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, Michael Morpurgo, Mick Inkpen, Malorie Blackman, Robert Muchamore, Michael Foreman and John Burningham. For young children we have had visits from Maisy and Kipper as well as our regular weekly storytime.
In 2010, we also hosted successful events in the shop with Helen Oxenbury & John Burningham, Oliver Jeffers, Michael Rosen and Judith Kerr.
Staff knowledge and expertise underpins all our work. Their dedication, enthusiasm and hard work are key and their love of children's books crucial.
Our approach - now as in previous years - is built on enthusiasm for books with a strong commitment to getting more books to more readers, and always the right book to the right child.
Whether we are taking high profile authors to large scale events, or making the time to read a story to a small child whose carer needs a chance to browse, we believe the most important element of our shop is our relationship to our customers.
