Anywhere Book Club summer session

Think picture books are just for preschoolers? Join us for an Anywhere Book Club session to see how picture books can be the perfect starting point for oral literacy games and creative discussions for children aged 6 to 10.

At the Anywhere Book Club we reimagine how adults can support children’s reading and writing in a fun, manageable and purposeful way. We create companion booklets to accompany picture books that suggest games that fit easily into busy family life.

Run by the founders of the Anywhere Book Club (and experienced local teachers), this session will focus on the stunning ‘The Midnight Panther’ by Poonam Mistry and will be full of ‘talk for writing’ activities and imaginative thinking opportunities, developing reading and writing skills… all without needing even a pen and paper! Our activities are carefully designed to develop language skills, well-being and confidence as we know that talking about books and words improves reading ability and enjoyment and also fuels imaginative writing.

We look forward to playing ‘Adverb Ping Pong’, considering the sound a rainbow might make and sharing what helps each person ‘sparkle’!
